During the school year 2011-2012 the ÅIPI has held workshops about ”Fair Sex” for all students in the second year of upper secondary school on Åland. The government of Åland has now granted the ÅIPI means to continue developing the work with ”Fair Sex”. The number of workshops for second graders will be increased to two and information materials will be developed and distributed to students. Education in the field of gender related violence and gender equality will be held for teachers in both upper secondary and intermediate schools.
The aim of the workshop ”Fair Sex” is to encourage young people to talk about issues related to relationships and sexuality, such as reciprocity, respect, boundaries and gender equality. To talk and think about such issues can enhance the chances of experiencing positive sexual relationships and reduce the risk of being exposed to or commit sexual violence.
